Situated on the north-east shores of Anguilla beside East Shoal Bay, you’ll be only a ten-minute drive from the airport which, hopefully, means you could be on the beach, horizontal, within the hour – piña colada on the way. This is a fly and flop destination, and you’ll have everything you’ll need right here on-site for a superb resort stay, including a complimentary kids’ club for those aged between 4 and 12 to ensure you’re free to lavish in the luxury.

There are other things to keep the kids happy if you’re travelling as a family, including a kids’ pool, menus, interconnecting rooms and even 3-bedroomed suites that come with a private pool on the terrace, a fully-equipped kitchen and a large living area. Entry-level rooms, while more modest, are still very spacious, starting at 600 - 700 sq ft in size (that’s 56 - 65 sq m). Choose a room with a water view, by all means; all have a terrace or balcony with a table and chairs (as well as a Nespresso machine). While the name Beach House implies something dreamy and romantic, the rooms here are housed in concrete blocks of four floors (there are elevators).

The facilities here are expansive, starting with the beach itself where sun loungers are set up under parasols and beach servers come round with drinks and fresh fruits periodically. There are three adult pools, including the main, palm-lined asymmetrical, infinity pool (with adult-only cabanas) that’s lit up at night in varying colours. The star attraction of the resort, however, has to be the Thai Spa House, a historic wooden house shipped here from Thailand. There are five treatment rooms here and the largest hammam in the Caribbean, plus there’s also a yoga deck, a fitness centre and tennis courts – more ways to exert yourself.

Breakfast is served – as well as other meals of the day – at the beachfront 20 Knots restaurant. Casual in style, you can choose to eat indoors or out, depending on the weather. Stone is the fine-dining choice where sharing plates are the norm, enabling you to try even more. Just opposite Stone is the Rhum Room, a convivial and elegant place to taste as many rums as you can manage. Let the bartender guide you.

Snorkelling, fishing and day excursions can be arranged with the concierge, and if you need any more swimwear, resort wear or souvenirs, there’s a lovely shop inside the hotel that has you covered.
