Villa d'Este
About the hotel
"Consistently counted among the world’s finest hotels, Villa d’Este is a magical getaway overlooking Lake Como that boasts beautiful rooms, enchanting dining and world-class amenities."
Guests of the hotel should expect nothing less than the royal treatment, as is only fitting given that Villa d’Este was once an aristocratic residence that housed centuries of princesses, sultans and czars. Enveloped by a 25-acre park and perched practically on top of the water, the property could scarcely be more beautiful if it tried – a sentiment which encapsulates not only the exteriors but the interiors as well.
Everything within the hotel is grand as can be, and every corner seems to be resplendent with art, history or some lavish piece of finery. Guestrooms – of which there are 152 – are no exception. Divided between the Queen’s Pavilion and the Cardinal Building, each accommodation is unique, and all are furnished with gorgeous antiques and decorated in the Renaissance... Show more

Everything within the hotel is grand as can be, and every corner seems to be resplendent with art, history or some lavish piece of finery. Guestrooms – of which there are 152 – are no exception. Divided between the Queen’s Pavilion and the Cardinal Building, each accommodation is unique, and all are furnished with gorgeous antiques and decorated in the Renaissance style. The ambience within feels plucked from a fairy tale: expect artisanal brocades, precious velvets, fine artwork and indulgent marble bathrooms to boot. Views are either of the surrounding gardens or of Lake Como itself, and some accommodations boast balconies from which to soak in those dreamy vistas. For the most magnificently memorable of occasions, book one of the property’s four enchanting villas.
A lovely assortment of options for food and drink means you needn’t step foot off the property unless you desire to do so. Enjoy breakfast and glorious views of the lake and grounds at Veranda, which also boasts a charming lakeside terrace. Cosy and casual, the Grill is a picturesque spot for an al fresco lunch. True to its name, grilled fish and meat dishes are the star of the show. Set by the floating pool, Sundeck is a sublime spot for a light lunch or a cocktail (perhaps both?), and Canova Bar and Lake Terrace is a sumptuous spot for some glamorous people-watching with a drink in hand. Vinophiles will fall in love with Il Platano: an exclusive, wine-centric eatery for an unforgettable multi-course meal.
There’s no shortage of things to do at Villa d’Este, whether that means some serious pampering in The Beauty Centre or a few rounds of tennis on one of the property’s eight courts. There is also a 24-hour fitness centre on-site and a golf club just 12 kilometres away. Nature enthusiasts will have ample opportunities to explore the beautiful region, from trekking and biking to water sports on the idyllic lake.
