The Upper House, Hong Kong
About the hotel
"Contemporary, slick and perfectly discreet, The Upper House promises decadent guestrooms, a glitzy nightlife scene and spectacular city views from the restaurant set at the top of the building."
Called the Upper House, most likely, because the hotel is perched above another (The JW Marriott), and the Pacific Place shopping mall, the 117 rooms begin on the 38th floor of the building. Originally constructed as luxury apartments, the hotel is the perfect place for those who like their privacy and don’t enjoy the conspicuousness that a lobby provides.
There are still some traditional hotel aspects, luckily, since you will enjoy being spoiled when you stay here. There’s a small gym, a lounge and library, in-room spa treatments, a mini garden and amenities for children including a jungle-themed playroom and a kids’ manicure bar.... Show more

There are still some traditional hotel aspects, luckily, since you will enjoy being spoiled when you stay here. There’s a small gym, a lounge and library, in-room spa treatments, a mini garden and amenities for children including a jungle-themed playroom and a kids’ manicure bar. The only things lacking, due to space, are a spa and pool, but all that can be arranged next door.
The weekend brunch with free-flowing mimosas at Salisterra is a huge hit with guests; this all-day dining venue offers everything from a traditional afternoon tea to a ‘Family Food Menu’ with crowd pleasers like Cobb salads and a Thanksgiving-inspired meal with roast chicken and sweet potatoes. The adjacent bar boasts a tempting menu of snacks like steak bites with chimichurri sauce and Wagyu beef burgers with smoked bacon and cheddar cheese. Have a happy hour drink at the Continental, or visit during lunch or dinner hours for a sophisticated meal surrounded by lush garden views. Make the most of a beautiful day with a light lunch at The Lawn, then stop by the Butter Cookies bar for a sweet treat with a glass of cinnamon almond milk or chocolate oat milk for dipping.
Rooms (eleven on each floor) are modern and decidedly decadent, starting with the maxi bar where everything, except the wine and champagne, is complimentary. Coffee machines are the best there are. But be warned: super-king beds with heavenly mattress toppers, cloud-like pillows and mechanised blackout shades on the windows will make it very hard for you to get up and out, come morning (even if all the switches are right next to the bed). The sandstone bathrooms are huge and amenities abundant. Stay in a suite, and you’ll be able to control the temperature of all rooms individually. True luxury.
