The Ritz-Carlton, Perth
About the hotel
"The new kid in town, the salubriously situated Ritz-Carlton, Perth dazzles with its decidedly WA-centric style, gorgeous accommodations and stunning city and river views everywhere you look."
The lobby is striking, if not huge, with a stunning chandelier inspired by the Joffre Falls in the Karijini National Park in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. You’ll particularly like the hotel’s location which is perfect for getting to know the city. The lobby is striking, if not huge, with a stunning chandelier inspired by the Joffre Falls in the Karijini National Park in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. You’ll particularly like the hotel’s location which is perfect for getting to know the city. It’s easy to explore downtown Perth on foot, and you’ll be within walking distance of many of the city’s newest restaurants, bars and cafes. You’ll also be near the Bell Tower, the train station and the Barrack Street Jetty where you’ll catch the ferry to Rottnest Island (not to be missed if you’re keen to see a quokka).
Rooms and suites – all 211 of them – are equipped with the very latest mod-cons, including lights that turn on as you enter the room and electronic blinds that automatically close to cover the floor-to-ceiling windows. Decor resembles WA’s topography: clean lines and vast windows emphasise space, while wood floors accentuated by sand-coloured patterned carpets emphasise the abundance of nature and beaches. The bathrooms have free-standing tubs and showers of a luxury spa-like nature, a separate WC, a dressing area, dual sinks and mirrors and Asprey amenities, probably the only thing that’s, sadly, not locally sourced. Entry-level Deluxe Rooms are 50 sq m (538 sq ft) which is pretty large for a city room. Disappointing that there are no Nespresso machines, but WiFi is included in the rate. Some have Juliet balconies, but the poolside bar is a better option for getting some fresh air and, yet again, more views.
Called the Songbird Bar and Lounge, it’s the perfect place to start your evening as the sun sets over the river. Dinner at the Hearth Restaurant is sure to impress. The chef prepares dishes over an open fire in an open kitchen, and the inspiration is very much Western Australian. The room, art deco in style, is beautiful in cool blue and crisp white, and there’s both indoor and outdoor seating. The Hearth Lounge is equally attractive and is open for lunch through 10:30 pm for light bites and delicious drinks.
The hotel’s outdoor infinity pool is nice but not huge, and there’s also a spa with a sauna and vitality pool (book way in advance). The gym, located on the fifth floor, is handsomely appointed and offers views of the Swan River. There’s a yoga studio and a his and her sauna, as well.
