Located in the shimmering high rise of the Süzer Plaza, the Ritz-Carlton Istanbul is certainly hard to miss amongst the traditional and elegant buildings of the historic Dolmabahçe district. While the exterior and amenities might be modern, there is a distinctly Turkish soul within, all set against some of the best views of the iconic Bosphorus Strait in the city.

While the building might seem out of place, the same cannot be said for the interiors, where great efforts have been taken to incorporate local elements throughout the property. The 243 rooms and suites blend modern design with Turkish-inspired decor, including fabrics, carpets artwork and furniture, along with beautiful Iznik tiles in the sumptuous bathrooms. The majority of rooms have views of the Bosphorus, and a lucky few have panoramas which include the stunning minarets of the Hagia Sophia Museum and Sultanahmet, so there's no forgetting you're in Istanbul.

Take in yet more Bosphorus views over high tea in the elegant Atelier Lounge or with a sundowner from the terrace, Bleu Lounge, which features a retractable glass roof, making it an excellent drinking spot all year round – rain or shine. The hotel's restaurant, Atelier Real Food, serves refined farm-to-table dishes utilising local, seasonal ingredients with the decadent French Rotisserie in the open kitchen immediately catching the eye. The extensive wine cellar of over 150 vintages, many of them Turkish, makes for the perfect accompaniment to any meal overlooking the waterway – one of the world’s most important arteries for almost two thousand years.

The Ritz-Kids service makes this an excellent location for families, with special arrival mocktails, the Ritz-Kids Dining Experience and many personalised amenities at turndown service.
