Often referred to as ‘Vegas by the Sea', the Atlantis on Paradise Island can be more than a little overwhelming – exhausting, even, to get your head around. You may have thought that the mega-complex was not for you, but believe us when we say that there is somewhere at Atlantis to suit everyone’s taste and needs, and The Reef at Atlantis could be the one if you’re looking to plan a fun-filled family holiday.

Opened in 2007, this luxurious condo-hotel offers accommodation from studios to three-bedroom suites and penthouses which come with fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes and spectacular ocean views. Rooms are nicely decorated with all the creature comforts you may need, and bathrooms are spacious with walk-in showers, bathtubs and lit vanity mirrors and hair dryers. Of course, grocery shopping will be done for you (at a cost), and there’s a Starbucks in the lobby area so you’ll never need to go far for that morning cup of perfect joe. There’s a zero-entry pool on-site, family-friendly and offering exceptional ocean views and easy access to the white sands of Paradise Beach.

And when you want to take advantage of all that Atlantis has, there’s a free shuttle service to and fro. All Reef Guests have access to Aquaventure, a 141-acre waterscape and the largest outdoor marine habitat in the world with over 50,000 marine animals and 250 species. There’s a kids’ club and a teens’ club and dozens of pools, but if you prefer to leave the kids in the room while you go check out some adult activities, babysitting services are available, bookable in advance. For adults, you’ll find a sleek casino, multiple bars, a nightclub, a comedy club and a championship golf course.

Most impressive is the 10,000 sq ft Fitness Facility (you’ll wish you had one near you) with its two movement studios for spinning, yoga and Pilates classes, a wellness area and a full gym with the latest cardio equipment. A grass courtyard and yoga pavilion overlook a 4-lane, 25-metre lap pool with chaise lounges for relaxing after all that exertion.

There’s no shortage of dining at this expansive resort. If you’re into celebrity chefs, be sure to check out Nobu, Chef Todd English's Olives restaurant, Silan by Alon Shaya and Fish by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. There are plenty of options for a casual meal or a grab-and-go snack as well, from healthy poolside meals at Frezca to gourmet burgers and sandwiches at Cascades (which are both within The Reef), plus many more options across the Atlantis property.
