If you consider yourself an Upper Eastsider when in Manhattan, there are few places more special to hang your hat while here than the Mark Hotel. The property offers refined service and amenities aplenty, not to mention one of the most fun and well-known dining establishments in town.

We realise this may sound far-fetched, but close your eyes and imagine for a moment you’re in St Tropez. Life within these four walls is such fun and so fabulous that it’s easy to believe you’re somewhere else.

And look no further, for these are some of the sexiest rooms in Manhattan, all 141 of them. With hues of cream and beige highlighted with ebony and sycamore wood, they are an oasis of calm in an otherwise bustling metropolis. There is a ton of wardrobe space, and it’s very clear that whoever designed the rooms actually stayed in them: everything is in just the right place. The beds are supremely comfortable, and those with a penchant for minibars (maxi-bars?) will love the Sub-Zero drawers and the fantastic array of naughty nibbles and snacks including the Ladurée macarons offered on the first night's stay. In-room technology is controlled from a touch panel.

But there’s a lot more to love. The gym, for example, is made even more alluring by the opportunity to schedule a workout session with a fitness guru. After which, the Frédéric Fekkai beauty salon will be more than pleased to make sure you step out looking like a movie star before a night on the town. And if you’re in town for (mostly) shopping and a show or two, the concierge will organise tickets to just about anything as well as a private session at Bergdorf Goodman – NYC’s finest department store – and have you taken there in the hotel’s car.

After a busy day, you can visit Caviar Kaspia for an elegant meal, sip cocktails at the Mark bar, or head to The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges for selections from the raw bar, fresh Maine lobster or black truffle pizza. Unlike dinner, breakfast is a leisurely affair. Come down in your joggers (it is the USA, after all) and enjoy The Mark breakfast: a plate of eggs done any which way, spuds, greens, meat, freshly squeezed OJ and coffee or tea.

While you can, by all means, bring your pooch to stay (it will be royally spoiled), and kids are even more welcome. We love the fact that there’s an expedition organised for those 10 to 13 years old to head to the Metropolitan Museum for an age-appropriate tour. How great is that?
