Don't be fooled by The Grand’s historic atmosphere – this fabulous establishment is anything but stuffy. Guestrooms and suites are the perfect blend of modern luxury and Old World grace, and the stylish spaces incorporate aspects both old and new to create bespoke and memorable stays. The accommodations – of which there are 207 – are individually designed and indulgently spacious; even the entry-level options boast an impressive amount of legroom. The interior design is near-impeccable, though some guests might find it ever-so-slightly corporate. Nevertheless, the upscale spaces are attractive as can be with their tall ceilings, enormous windows and historical quirks – in some rooms, those quirks manifest as porthole windows.

The Grand has two venues for food and drink, with a third option (called Hudsons) that is exclusively for private dining. The Rise Restaurant, Terrace & Bar is an ode to contemporary British cuisine and focuses on locally sourced ingredients in its spirited menu. The dining room is chic and elegant, an ambience that is elevated by chandeliers and an open kitchen. The menu offers British favourites with a Yorkshire twist, and you can also expect a good assortment of local beers. The heated Garden Terrace is a definite plus, as it allows lucky guests to dine outdoors year-round. The 1906 Bar is memorable as can be with its classic atmosphere punctuated by gorgeous fuschia wingback chairs (the vibe works, we promise). Fabulous bartenders and an excellent collection of spirits make the spot a must-visit and a scrumptious bar menu offers enticingly named options like ‘Crispy Fingers of Yorkshire Squeaky Cheese’.

The Spa at The Grand represents a stark departure from the property’s aesthetic at large. The space evokes in equal measure visions of ancient Greece and a modern nightclub thanks to its classical statues and moody, colourful lighting.
