About the hotel
"The only resort with a private train station to Machu Picchu, Tambo del Inka is an Andean haven with beautiful rooms, lush surroundings and a contemporary restaurant serving adventurous dishes."
The resort’s 128 rooms (twelve of which are suites) blend in beautifully with the lush surroundings: the stone walls outdoors reflect Incan sites, and the interiors of polished wood and Peruvian patterns, weaves and colour schemes are warm and welcoming.
Choose your room for its view; all are decorated in earthy tones in harmony with the surroundings, and all have large windows which allow guests to gaze out at the mountains and hotel gardens. Choose your room for its view; all are decorated in earthy tones in harmony with the surroundings, and all have large windows which allow guests to gaze out at the mountains and hotel gardens. You can open the windows in your room to let in the morning or evening breeze, and all suites have balconies if you’re lucky enough to be in one. Coffee machines come in every room, and bathrooms are large with a tub and separate shower, even a bidet.
When it comes to downtime, there’s both an indoor and an outdoor pool here, as well as a spa with hydromassage pools, Vichy showers and water massage beds. Treatments include several using Incan products like cocoa, mud and quinoa. There’s a gym, and the more adventuresome could rent a bicycle and head out with a picnic to discover the area. The hotel also can arrange a private tour in a car or minibus, another good way to see as much as you can of the valley.
Meals at Hawa, the contemporary Andean restaurant that resembles a vast and beautiful barn, are made using local organic ingredients from the hotel’s own gardens and other Sacred Valley suppliers. The restaurant’s inviting decor reflects the food that’s served here, including the ubiquitous guinea pig special and ceviche that’s like none you’ve ever had before. There’s a bar here, too, the Kiri Bar, where bartenders make a mean pisco sour that’s way too moreish. Take yours outside on the huge terrace, sit back on the sofas and decide how to spend the next day as you feast your eyes on the mountains all around.
