The Shangri-La is in an interesting place as far as dining is concerned. In January 2020 MARKET by Jean-Georges closed its doors. The restaurant – which had been a fixture of the hotel for a decade – will be replaced by something entirely new in Spring 2020. Until then, all meals of the day can be had in-room, or you can swing by Ginger Bar for a light bite or a drink. And given the hotel’s location, guests will have dozens of eateries practically on their doorstep: particularly good options include the steakhouse Black + Blue as well as the Italian restaurant Zefferelli’s, both of which are less than 200 metres away. For seafood (and an excellent happy hour), try the lively Coast Restaurant, and be sure to visit Thierry Chocolaterie Patisserie Cafe for a sweet breakfast at least once.
A well-appointed health club has all the necessities for a proper workout and is open 24 hours. There’s also an outdoor pool and a studio for yoga and pilates – you can arrange to take a personal class there if you’d like. The sanctuary-like CHI is the hotel’s tranquil spa which offers an impressive treatment menu with an emphasis on Asian healing methodologies, all of which offer an indulgent respite from the vibrant city outside.
