Originally opened in 1980, Regent Hong Kong has had a storied and glamorous past. Once a favorite of Hollywood Royalty like Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor, it then spent two decades as an InterContinental until 2020, when IHG Hotels launched the hotel’s next chapter. Following two years of renovations, Regent re-debuted in 2023 – and the hotel’s new look might just be its best one yet.

Perched on the banks of Victoria Harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui, the hotel offers a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Architect Chi Wing Lo is responsible for the tranquil and modern interiors, which set the stage for a blissfully relaxing stay. The hotel is resplendent with contemporary artworks, and the guest rooms – which range from entry-level Classic Rooms to the jaw-dropping Presidential Suite – feel a bit like works of art themselves. Light wood, soft shades, impeccable design and soothing geometry (think lots of gently curving lines and sculpturesque edges) are illuminated by enormous panoramic windows. The majority of accommodations face the water, and it is absolutely worth upgrading for a room that does to secure those unforgettable views. Bathrooms are gorgeous and spa-like, and many feature Japanese deep soaking bathtubs. Suites are even more visually striking, and a handful even offer private terraces and whirlpools.

An assortment of impressive restaurants make Regent a dining destination unto itself. Most notable of all is Lai Ching Heen, a dazzling contemporary Cantonese affair that boasts two Michelin stars, stellar views and a dim sum lunch that’s not to be missed. Fine cuts of meat from around the world can be found at the sophisticated Steak House, which will appeal to vinophiles as well as carnivores thanks to its impressive wine list. The iconic Japanese-Peruvian cuisine of Nobu Matsuhisa can be enjoyed alongside magnificent harbour views at Nobu, while the aptly named Harbourside offers another vantage point from which to soak in the hustle and bustle while enjoying a buffet-style spread for all meals of the day. For drinks, head to either The Lobby Lounge or Qura Bar: the former offers excellent views of the Hong Kong Island skyline, while the latter is a more intimate, eclectic affair with a glamorous Art Deco ambience and a cigar lounge to boot.

While there’s no spa on-site, Regent does have a well-equipped fitness centre that’s open 24 hours a day, alongside a large outdoor swimming pool and three swoon-worthy infinity edge spa pools.
