Located within One57, one of the city's tallest buildings, the Park Hyatt New York has a lot going for it. It’s renowned as having some of the best amenities in the city, including a huge spa, a gym with all the latest equipment including Peloton bikes, a fitness mirror and a salt-water indoor lap pool. You are also very welcome to stay here with your four-legged friend as well – dog beds provided.

They’re a friendly lot at this midtown property which comprises floors 3 to 30 of this residential complex. The service staff are overtly friendly, as is the concierge team. They’ll happily arrange a complimentary transfer anywhere nearby in the hotel car if you give them advance notice, and they have their finger on the pulse of the fine dining establishments in town, and there are many nearby.

Rooms, like the lobby, are minimalist and swanky with lots of natural stone used throughout. There are 210 rooms, 92 of which are suites, some of which have private terraces, something welcome and unusual for Manhattan. All have floor-to-ceiling windows and heated floors in the marble bathrooms (a blessing in the winter months, you’ll agree). Some have partial views of Central Park and some of Carnegie Hall. Whichever category you choose, however, you’ll always have a quieter night the higher up you are. Nespresso machines are provided in each room and the artwork throughout the hotel, including those pieces in the rooms, is unique and quite remarkable.

When it comes to wining and dining, the hotel has one food and beverage outlet called The Living Room. The atmosphere is nice, and the bartender makes a mean drink, but it isn’t the most exciting menu in town. You can start your morning here with artisan breads, lobster scramble, or a cold-pressed juice before setting out to explore the city, and with breakfast hours stretching until 11:30 a.m., there’s no need for an early alarm. Stop by for a handcrafted cocktail and a charcuterie board as your evening unfolds, or sit down to a dinner of the Park Hyatt’s signature bolognese or an all-American meal of New York strip steak followed by a slice of apple pie a la mode.

Besides the location on 57th Street, there are many very special things about this hotel. Did we mention the pool has an underwater music system? You’ll dip and dive to tunes and concert pieces from Carnegie Hall, a welcome diversion to help you keep you motivated to keep on swimming.
