It’s just under an hour’s drive from Cape Town, and the mountains in the distance make for breath-taking vistas. The property and its gardens offer a relaxed, contemporary feel. Vast and remarkable statues mark their territory at various points throughout the estate, all made by local artists.
Most of the colourful spacious rooms and suites at Le Quartier Français have fireplaces and views over a central courtyard and the property's central swimming pool. Should you want more room, some suites and villas have their own garden or pool. The three and four bedroom villas each have their own kitchens too.
When it’s time to dine, the hotel has two restaurants. Protégé is a casual-style eatery with a show kitchen if you choose to dine inside, or opt to go al fresco on the terrace. Either way, the sharing plates are a good idea and will let you try a little more of this delicious food with French, Italian and Asian influences. Another option is La Petite Colombe, the property’s fine dining and elegant option. It’s so special, however, that you must book before you get here.
If you’re staying longer, however, or if you forget to make a date to dine in La Petite Colombe, the hotel’s shuttle will ferry you back and forth to Leeu’s other restaurant, The Dining Room at Leeu Estates, or stroll across the road to Marigold for outstanding Indian fare. You may want to head off on foot, however, to burn off some of those great meals.
