Lausanne Palace
About the hotel
"A Belle Époque beauty in the heart of town, Lausanne Palace boasts Michelin-starred cuisine and a palatial spa in addition to gorgeous rooms that showcase spectacular Lake Geneva views."
The hotel first opened its doors in 1915, and its historical roots are proudly displayed throughout. A dazzling Belle Époque lobby sports gleaming marble columns, sumptuous furniture and glittering chandeliers, while stylish rooms tone down the grandiosity while retaining all of the elegance. You’ll have plenty of options as far as rooms and suites go, with the choice of either city or lake views. The latter, unsurprisingly, is superior, made all the better by the fact that you can see the Alps in the distance across the water. Whichever views you have, you’ll have floor-to-ceiling... Whichever views you have, you’ll have floor-to-ceiling windows through which to see them and – in some – small private balconies. The rooms themselves are spacious and sophisticated, favouring shades of cream and beige with furnishings of wood, suede and leather. Furniture is graceful and contemporary, and pops of colour from pillows and fresh flowers add just enough cheer to the soothing spaces.
Guests are positively spoilt for choice when it comes to dining at the hotel, first and foremost because of the Michelin-starred masterpieces served at La Table D’Edgard. The hotel deems their haute cuisine restaurant a “creative laboratory”; that sentiment combined with magnificent views of the water make for a rather memorable meal. Next on your list will be the Parisien Brasserie Grand Chêne which is a charmingly retro traditional French eatery done up in polished wood, parquet flooring and nostalgic green leather benches. For something a little different, try Sushi Zen Palace for Japanese or the cheerful Côté Jardin for a light Mediterranean meal or Sunday brunch. In the evenings, LP’s bar is open late and is a trendy colonial-chic spot to people watch with a cocktail in hand.
The hotel’s palatial spa has everything one could need to decompress and revitalize: a tantalizing (and rather extensive) treatment menu, saunas, hammams, fitness centre, lounge bar and – our favourite touch – a twinkling star-like ceiling above the indoor swimming pool.
