L’Apogée Courchevel, Oetker Collection
About the hotel
"A paradisiacal resort in the French Alps, L’Apogée Courchevel is a ski-in and ski-out hotel, a luxurious Art Deco-meets-the-mountains chalet with decadent guestrooms and a snazzy bar."
Snowsports are the rational reason to come here in the winter months, and the slopes are superb. Open only four months of the year, L’Apogée is a ski-in and ski-out hotel; a big plus, for sure. Somehow, however, skiing options aren’t the destination’s biggest attraction. That prize has to go to eating and drinking, making merry and revelling with friends and family, and what better place to start such a quest than at L’Apogée Courchevel?

Snowsports are the rational reason to come here in the winter months, and the slopes are superb. Open only four months of the year, L’Apogée is a ski-in and ski-out hotel; a big plus, for sure. Somehow, however, skiing options aren’t the destination’s biggest attraction. That prize has to go to eating and drinking, making merry and revelling with friends and family, and what better place to start such a quest than at L’Apogée Courchevel?
The hotel is a large, luxurious chalet with an Art Deco meets the Alps design style with delightful decor like fur throws, velvet sofas, marvellous mod-cons and the most comfortable beds you’ve ever slept in. With 53 rooms and suites – including a penthouse suite (with a hot tub on the balcony) – and two private chalets that can each accommodate eleven guests, even the entry-level rooms are decadent. All have balconies with mountain views, bespoke furnishings and Nespresso machines.
The hotel has some good dining options, including the Le Comptoir de L'Apogée where French fare (and sublime pastry) is served. Open for both breakfast and dinner, in the evenings everything from minestrone to caviar is on the menu, including choices from France’s finest purveyors of meat and seafood like fowl from Bresse and prime rib from Aubrac. The wine list is pretty impressive, as is the choice of champagne. The other restaurant on property, Koori, serves superb Japanese food. Lunch is offered in Le Bar de L’Apogee, which later becomes a nightlife hotspot with live music and delicious drinks to help thaw any lingering alpine chills. There’s also a sophisticated cigar lounge, where you can sip fine spirits and rare wines while enjoying a selection from the humidor.
Book a massage in the comfort of your room or a treatment in the hotel’s La Prarie spa, which also has a gym, an indoor pool, a hammam and a salt sauna. Indulge, and book the kids into the great clubs here. Youngsters can learn about everything from local cuisine to nature in the Mini VIP 1850 club; those from 11-15 can enjoy dance parties and video games in Freestyle 1850.
