Labtwentytwo’s distance from central Barcelona does come with one notable perk: views of the iconic Sagrada Familia. Many – but not all – of the 185 guestrooms enjoy those vistas, and it's well worth snagging one that does. Another benefit of being a little further out is the presence of more legroom. Though the Single Rooms (which feature a twin bed only) are positively pint-sized at just 16 square metres, the hotel’s other offerings enjoy floor plans that are larger than the city’s average accommodations. Within, the spaces are contemporary and minimalist, with a straightforward simplicity that feels refreshing and calm. Curved lines, geometric artwork and futuristic lighting fixtures are illuminated by enormous wall-to-wall windows; book a higher-floor room to make the most of the views.
Enjoy international cuisine for the first meal of the day at Alcachofa, the first of a quartet of eateries at the hotel. Alcachofa Resto is a superb spot for lunch, especially for those guests who favour organic, eco-friendly cuisine. Bar22 offers quick breakfasts in the early hours and vibrant cocktails later on, though Za’atar Pool & Bar is our personal favourite spot for a drink. Perched on the rooftop with magnificent 360-degree views of Barcelona, this venue boasts a Mediterranean food menu and a fun, buzzy vibe.
The pool, of course, is also a highlight and is a particularly fun spot when live music takes the stage. If swimming isn’t your thing, Shape TwentyTwo – the hotel’s fitness centre – has all the necessary gear for a comprehensive workout.
