With an enviable setting smack on Copacabana’s gorgeous beachfront, the JW Marriott Hotel Rio de Janeiro is a stand-out from the start. Its central beach location is hard to beat, both for soaking in the coastal views as well as for its convenience. Just two streets away from the hotel is Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana – aka, the area’s single most happening street.

Though the hotel's façade doesn’t necessarily scream Copacabana (or Brazil at all for that matter – the vibe feels more West Coast of the United States), there are hints of Brazilian heritage throughout that lend that welcome sense of place indoors. Guestrooms come in a good array of options ranging from the entry-level Deluxe Guestroom to the lavish Presidential Suite. All are calm and simplistic, though they do feel a touch impersonal due to the generic copy-pasted hotel room feel. The Carioca is the hotel's all-day dining restaurant which overlooks Copacabana beach and serves dishes both local and international. Moon Lounge Rooftop Bar will quickly become your go-to spot for street-style tapas and creative cocktails, and the breathtaking views that you’ll find there are bound to make you want to kick back and stay awhile. When you’re in the mood for a little more variety, try the seafood-focused Marius Degustare (which is just under one kilometre away from the resort), or the Italian Don Camillo which is just ever so slightly further.

The Mirante Health Club will be a boon for wellness-conscious guests of the hotel. Here, you’ll find a fitness centre, group fitness classes and an outdoor pool that’s big enough for laps. Not far off is the hotel's tranquil spa, where you'll find an assortment of experiences designed to fall into four distinct categories: Calm, Invigorate, Satisfy and Renew.
