Contemporary, luxurious and chic as can be, Marriott spared no expense on its debut property in Sampa. The JW Marriott Hotel São Paolo, a design-forward getaway, is a love letter to the country it inhabits, and combines an abundance of Brazilian art and culture with modern luxury to create a memorably curated stay.

A striking lobby sets the mood from the moment guests cross the hotel’s threshold. Clad almost entirely in black marble, the space features floor-to-ceiling mirrors, a bold spiral staircase and eye-catching artwork throughout. Guestrooms, of which there are 258 in all, continue the artsy ambience. The attention to detail is evident in every inch of the interior design, and the resulting spaces feel vibrant, welcoming and effortlessly cool. Marble bathrooms echo the lobby below, and a number of the nicer accommodations boast oversised freestanding bathtubs. Wall-to-wall windows offer sweeping views over the river or the city; splurge for one of the ‘High Floor’ options to enjoy the best vistas the hotel has to offer.

Back downstairs, Caju Bar serves as an attractive fixture of the lobby. There, you’ll find scrumptious small plates, ‘garden-to-glass’ cocktails and live music every night. Be sure to enjoy a caipirinha (or two) while you’re there – fortunately, Caju Bar specialises in the Brazilian national drink. The flavours of Italy are brought to São Paolo at Neto, which serves inspired Italian-Brazilian fusion cuisine in an attractive dining room resplendent with high ceilings and live trees. In partnership with the winery Terrazas de Los Andes, the hotel also features Terrazas Room: an intimate experience for up to just ten guests at a time that revolves around a delicately curated food and wine menu.
