As a family holiday destination, this hotel is a good choice. Rooms at the hotel face the water or the gardens, and two kids can stay free in with their parents. If you need more space, interconnecting options are available. Buy access to the Club Lounge if you want breakfast included (for all) and a sundowner or two every day. From 7 PM to closing, it’s an adult-only zone, something you may be ready to embrace after a day here at the hotel.
Rooms are nicely decorated, with wooden furniture and comfortable beds that face the outdoors. Blackout shades are useful, as the sun rises early here in the Gulf. Behind the bed is the dressing area, with ample space and a large built-in luggage rack. A well-stocked minibar and a Nespresso machine come standard, and welcome amenities are added as your stay progresses: eye masks, spec cleaners, bookmarks…
There are several places to eat here, the most fun being the Greek restaurant Shimmers, located beachside. It’s overlooked by the Burj Al Arab, the perfect backdrop for a selfie or two. There’s a Chinese restaurant, a Parisian pastry shop and a Mexican, Tortuga, that’s a throwback to what Mexican restaurants were in the 90s. A margarita or two here won’t go amiss, otherwise, head to the Bahri Bar for a quiet cocktail in a more refined setting or the pool bar to sip cocktails in the sunshine. Friday brunch is a huge affair at Hanaaya when locals (ex-pats mostly) come out to play.
