"Located just off of Rua Oscar Freire, the stylishly retro and perfectly sophisticated Fasano São Paolo boasts roomy suites, Michelin-starred cuisine and a live music bar frequented by world-class talent."

The Fasano name is an old one in the restaurant world, one that spans over a century in building a reputation for Italian fine-dining. Hotel Fasano São Paolo combines that culinary legacy with luxury accommodations in the Brazilian city where the family tradition began. The hotel’s current owner is a fourth-generation Fasano; as far as stylish sophistication goes, the family certainly knows a thing or two when it comes to hospitality.

The hotel’s striking art-deco clock tower, dark and gorgeously lit, immediately sets the hotel’s distinguished retro vibe. Inside, the lobby’s well-stocked bar will be the very first thing you see. Parquet flooring, dark woods and leather armchairs come together in a fashionable reimagining of the 1930s. Stay a while and people watch – it’s frequented by an elegant crowd.

Parquet flooring, dark woods and leather armchairs come together in a fashionable reimagining of the 1930s. Stay a while and people watch – it’s frequented by an elegant crowd.

In roomy suites, tall windows with ethereal curtains let in plenty of light and wonderful views – the best of which are found above the eighteenth floor. Persian rugs, sumptuous leather furniture and antique decor carry on the tasteful nostalgia that began in the lobby. The rooms are luxurious, primarily in their furnishings but also in their accoutrements include bidets, heated towel racks and spacious closets. Suites have hot tubs but other rooms do not, and Wi-Fi, oddly, is an additional cost.

For dinner, The Restaurante is Michelin-starred and well worth the splurge. It has its own bar (with an excellent wine list) and a live pianist. The hotel’s other restaurant – Nonno Ruggero – serves all meals in a more informal trattoria setting, with a balcony overlooking the beautiful Jardins district. At night’s end, visit Baretto, the hotel’s live music bar. Check their schedule beforehand; the small venue draws some surprisingly big names.

The pool area is exquisitely designed with stunning views, but – though lovely – the pool itself is too small for swimming. The fitness centre on the roof is well-equipped, and the lovely penthouse spa is open late.

The hotel can accommodate your family, but do know that you won’t find any activities or spaces designed for children.

One of the hotel’s biggest perks is its ever-fashionable location. The Fasano sits in an alley off of Rua Oscar Freire – a name practically synonymous with designer shopping. When – or if – you tire of shopping, you’ll find world-class restaurants to recover in just steps away.
