Hotel des Grands Boulevards
About the hotel
"A boutique hideaway tucked into the heart of Paris, the Hotel des Grands offers an escape from the city with its romantic guestrooms and fabulous dining"
This boutique hotel has just 50 rooms, each a gorgeous blend of historical beauty and contemporary luxury. Fashionable minimalism is the name of the game in these charming spaces, which feel pure and airy with high ceilings, restrained decor and large windows which let in ample natural light – some accommodations even have pint-sized balconies with itty-bitty chairs and pretty flower boxes. Fashionable minimalism is the name of the game in these charming spaces, which feel pure and airy with high ceilings, restrained decor and large windows which let in ample natural light – some accommodations even have pint-sized balconies with itty-bitty chairs and pretty flower boxes. The base colour of the rooms is a smooth eggshell white which makes the gorgeous fabric accents of terracotta and seafoam green pop all the more. Rough hewn driftwood nightstands rest behind elegant canopy beds, adding just a dash of rustic flair that’s completed by tasteful dried flower arrangements (an ode to the romance of the French countryside, perhaps). Quaint accents like rotary phones and chrome espresso machines complete the bespoke aesthetic, and lovely red and white marble bathrooms are bathed in a rosy, spa-like glow.
If you can bear to leave the nostalgic confines of your room (though, truly, no one would blame you if you’d prefer to stay put), you’ll be rewarded with scrumptious French fare. The hotel Courtyard (where you’ll find the main restaurant) feels like a well-kept secret; tucked romantically beneath the building’s pearly white walls, it is especially wonderful on sunny days when the glass ceilings retract to allow diners to bask in the glow. You’ll find all meals of the day served there, beginning with the veritable feast that is breakfast, and ending with a marvellous dinner resplendent with Franco-Italian delicacies such as blue lobster (in two stages!) and homemade ravioli. If you crave even more fresh air, venture to the rooftop. Roosting on top of the hotel is its newest addition. Called The Shed, this rooftop bar is a delightful hideaway perched high above the hustle and bustle of surrounding streets, and a drink there might just be the easiest way to escape the crowds of Paris without actually leaving. After all, who’d want to escape from Paris itself?
