Hôtel de la Cité Carcassonne
About the hotel
"One of just two hotels located within the city’s walls, Hôtel de la Cité Carcassonne features 59 plush accommodations, a superb spa and the only Michelin-starred restaurant in the city."
Within, the hotel is a charming blend of Art Deco and Neo-Gothic styles, with tribute paid to the city’s ancient roots throughout. This is perhaps most evident in the oldest part of the hotel, which features a tower that was built in the twelfth century. Two buildings contain the hotel’s 59 rooms and suites, and where you choose to stay will dictate the overall vibe of your room’s interior design. Those accommodations housed in the main part of the hotel feature a more classical ambience, while those found in the former Dame Carcas Hotel feel decidedly more modern. All are elegantly designed with sophisticated furnishings and bespoke accents that pay homage to the city’s mediaeval roots. Rooms are decorated with the handiwork of local artisans, and some – but not all – feature private outdoor areas. The loftiest option of all is the Hotel de la Cite- Suite Terrasse, which boasts its own sprawling terrace complete with absolutely magnificent views.
In addition to being one of the only hotels in Carcassonne, Hôtel de la Cité also boasts the city’s only Michelin-starred restaurant. Called La Barbacane Restaurant, this must-visit eatery features a gorgeous Neo-Gothic dining room complete with high ceilings, stained glass windows and cathedral chairs. Chef Jérôme Ryan’s menu showcases regional cuisine in his creative reimagining of traditional dishes. The restaurant also features a lovely outdoor terrace with views of the city walls.
Hôtel de la Cité Spa by Cinq Mondes & Cell Cosmet is the property’s one-stop-shop for everything beauty and wellness. A unique wellness destination born from the fusion of two brands, this science-forward spa offers cutting-edge treatments designed to rejuvenate and restore. Also at the spa are a host of other amenities, among them phyto-aromatic baths, sensory showers, hammams and a relaxation area.
