From their perch on the mountainside, the villas have gorgeous views of the tropical rainforest and the ocean, and private lanais from which to soak up those unforgettable vistas. Most of the villas have ocean views but do note that some look solely at the garden – you’ll want to bear that in mind when booking. The villas are residential in nature, so you’ll feel right at home with a luxurious kitchen, expansive living area and even your own private garage. The supremely well-appointed interiors are decorated beautifully in colours that reflect the surrounding nature: expect shades of sand, wood and gentle blue alongside full-wall windows and pretty artwork.
Guests of the villas have access to a private pool that’s off-limits to the rest of the resort, but if you crave a little variety, you’ll have no fewer than nine pools to choose from. These intricately interconnected pools are spread over six levels and include everything from waterslides to an adults-only pool.
You may choose to have a private chef prepare your meals in the comfort of your villa, but if you’re in the mood to mingle with the masses you’ll have options aplenty. Seven bars and restaurants offer dishes to appease all palates; we especially like the swim-up Grotto Bar and the supremely romantic HUMUHUMU which serves Polynesian and Hawaiian cuisine over the lagoon.
Unsurprisingly, there’s no shortage of things to do at the resort, from shopping at the myriad boutiques and galleries to getting pampered at the enormous spa which – at a staggering 50,000 square feet – is Hawaii’s largest.
