The 26-story tower that houses the Grand Hyatt is sleek and contemporary, and the hotel within is equally so. Guest rooms are crisp and modern with a touch of Colorado flair reflected in the framed prints and earth tone colour palette. Gently patterned chocolate brown carpeting rests beneath furniture that is stylishly restrained. Of the hotel’s 516 rooms, 27 are suites: these are divided between Executive, Presidential and VIP categories, and we think that the latter – with their wood-panelled walls, leather furnishings and sleek minimalist design – are the choicest of all.

If you’re in the mood for a proper meal, Courier Kitchen is a newsroom-inspired restaurant that serves new American cuisine for all meals of the day. Courier Bar is also inspired by journalism, and delectable libations have clever names like “Tabloid” and “Local Edition.” There’s also a full-service Starbucks on-site to ensure that guests are adequately caffeinated for a day of adventure.
Denver is a city of the outdoorsy and athletically inclined (the city’s proximity to some of the nation’s best hiking is certainly a contributing factor) so it comes as no surprise that the hotel's fitness amenities are top-notch. There’s a heated indoor pool surrounded by loungers and an adjacent outdoor sundeck as well as a shuffleboard table, outdoor tennis court and well-equipped fitness centre with plenty of cardio equipment. Our favourite feature is the outdoor track on the rooftop – a jog there is the perfect way to familiarise yourself with the sights of downtown Denver while working up a sweat.
If your preferred workout is one that takes place outside, all manners of hiking and biking await you in the warmer months, alongside top-notch skiing in the winter. If you’d prefer to watch sports rather than partake in them, Coors Field, Empower Field at Mile High and the Pepsi Center are all just a hop, skip and a jump away.
