About the hotel

Each category of rooms has its own distinctive personality, but all are bright and welcoming with a spirited feel thanks to accents like intricately patterned wallpaper and cheerfully striped headboards. All accommodations are south-facing and have private outdoor spaces: many with balconies and some with their own little gardens. Opt for a room with a view of the lake – gazing out at the park isn’t too shabby of an alternative, but the lake vistas are undoubtedly superior. For a more elegant stay, the suites are a classy upgrade; the three balconies of the Suite San Salvatore (the hotel’s largest option) are particularly enticing.
A quick jaunt across the street will have you at the hotel’s most notable eatery: the waterfront Restaurant Arté al Lago which serves exquisite seafood in an art gallery setting. As the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Lugano, you’ll certainly want to make reservations there at least once. The purple-carpeted dining room of Le Relais Restaurant is complemented by Doric columns, glittering chandeliers and gorgeous red flowers that perfectly match the scarlet curtains. The cuisine highlights Mediterranean flavours, heavily influenced by the bounty of the local land. For something just a touch more relaxed, try La Rucola; the restaurant's motto, after all, is “Fresh and Easy.” You’ll have three bars to choose from for a nightcap: the Cocktail Bar for creative mixology and live piano music, the old-timey Salone del Camino (a good spot for afternoon tea as well) or the Banano Bar for an intimate drink among the banana palms.
The hotel’s private beach and accompanying lakefront terrace are prime real estate for some serious relaxation time, and you’ll have the Clarins Beauty Corner at your disposal if you require a little extra pampering. You’ll also find a fitness centre, yoga classes, and indoor pool and clay tennis courts although, if you’d like your daily workout with a side of adventure, the water and the mountains await.
