When it comes to the Caribbean, the only thing better than one private beach is two private beaches, and that very thing can be found at the Four Seasons Resorts and Residences Anguilla. Occupying a coveted clifftop location on an island otherwise known for being rather flat, the luxurious resort overlooks both Meads and Barnes Bay – offering some spectacular views.

Inside and out, the resort blends starkly angular architecture with a subdued tropical feel; clean lines and natural decor make for spaces that are soothing and elegant. Rooms – even entry-level ones – are generously sized and neutrally set in slate greys and sandy beiges. Gilded accents and unique decor (think wall-mounted giant tortoise shells) and canopy-framed beds keep the spaces sophisticated and earthy, made all the better by walls that open up entirely to the outdoors.

When you are ready to venture out to the resort’s other dining options, however, you’ll have a lovely assortment to choose from. Salt serves a lavish breakfast (and all other meals) with a bird’s eye view of the water. For a light lunch and a rum cocktail, both Half Shell Beach Bar and Bamboo Bar and Grill are casual options. You’re likely to find yourself at Sunset Lounge nightly, and for good reason – the sushi, drinks and DJ are appealing as it is, but the views of the sunset over Barnes Bay are unmatched.

In your downtime (seemingly the only kind of time on this island), the resort has three pools (one adults-only) in addition to tennis, basketball and volleyball courts. Go rock climbing, take a Bootcamp class or visit the Sea Centre to get outfitted for a variety of beach and watersport adventures. Be sure to visit the spa before you leave; set in a two-story villa, the enormous space offers a full menu of treatments to relax and restore both inside and out.
