Deep in the bowels of the financial district sits the most recently launched of the two Four Seasons Hotels in the city: the Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown. Over the past few years, creative industries have snapped up offices in these parts making this one of NYC’s most up-and-coming, hip-and-happening neighbourhoods.

A five-minute walk away is the 9/11 Museum and Memorial, where you can scan the skyline from 102 stories up and pay homage. Battery Park is twelve minutes on foot, and in less than fifteen minutes you can be sauntering along the sun-dappled Hudson River waterfront, soaking up all the fresh (by NYC standards) air. Facilities include a fully-equipped gym and a spa with a lap pool. Decorated in all-natural shades and textures, it’s a gorgeous place to unwind, with cream marble mosaics and soothing Korean paper art. The spa has teamed up with Dr Burgener Switzerland, the Swiss expert in beauty and rejuvenation and Omorovicza, from the International Spa City of Budapest to create customised experiences for guests.

There’s a bar and restaurant on the ground floor, outsourced and not part of the hotel. But considering it’s Wolfgang Puck’s CUT, the first in the city, and where chef Raymond Weber takes the helm, you can rest assured the food and beverage quality is going to be something special from breakfast to after-dinner drinks. Aside from CUT, there’s always the option of ordering room service if you don’t feel like leaving your beautiful room or suite.
