Regardless of the room, children are warmly welcomed and are provided with welcome gifts, special menus and babysitting services, as and when.
Expect to rub shoulders with the city’s slickest porteños in Pony Line (more horses), the hotel’s swanky watering hole where DJs spin beats into the small hours. The cocktails are renowned in town, and you could go for a burger if you’re not up for a big meal. In contrast, the menu at Elena is decidedly more refined and varied. Service is slick, and the menu includes superb beef and fish dishes as well as Italian favourites. Another nice option is Nuestro Secreto, an outdoor area that functions as a grill “restaurant”, also open for brunch on Sunday.
Spend some time in Cielo Spa, where you can choose from a languid wine massage or opt for something more energetic like a pummelling backrub, while the rhythm of an Argentine tango sets the pace for the massage. You could, instead, head to the heated outdoor pool and spend some time on a lounger. Order nibbles and drinks throughout the day (sightseeing can wait). There’s a gym here, but adventure seekers might want to eschew the ordinary and sign up for a tango lesson from a hot-stepping local instructor to break a sweat in a totally new, and local, way.
