Ellerman House
About the hotel
"Set in an Edwardian mansion, Ellerman House’s phenomenal views, glamorous guestrooms and extraordinary collection of South African Art make it one of Cape Town’s most exclusive hotels."
This elegant Edwardian mansion sits at the top of Bantry Bay, Cape Town's most exclusive suburb, from where it commands unparalleled views of South Africa's Atlantic Seaboard. The classic elegance continues inside with a wondrous collection of antique furnishings, but there's no sense of fusty pomposity thanks to bright colours and modern flourishes.
The thirteen rooms in the main house are all uniquely furnished. All are plushly decorated and adorned with a fantastic blend of modern art and colonial antiques. Only two of the rooms don't enjoy the incredible sea views, but they're no less luxurious. With such a small number of rooms, service... Show more

The thirteen rooms in the main house are all uniquely furnished. All are plushly decorated and adorned with a fantastic blend of modern art and colonial antiques. Only two of the rooms don't enjoy the incredible sea views, but they're no less luxurious. With such a small number of rooms, service here is truly bespoke.
Not far from the house, on the slopes of the iconic Lion's Head, are Ellerman House's two fantastic villas. Both command stunning, panoramic ocean views, multiple storeys and private staff, including chefs, private deck areas, pools and access to the hotel’s wine gallery.
Dining at Ellerman House is a delight. As there are so few guests to cater for, with enough warning the kitchen can prepare truly custom cuisine to suit any taste. Doing so, however, means missing out on an extraordinary culinary journey. The head chef creates exquisite meals filled with local flavours and an exciting variety of seasonal ingredients. The à la carte menu changes every evening, meaning there's always a new delicious adventure awaiting. Weather permitting, meals are served on the terrace with gorgeous views. The convenient Guest Pantry is accessible 24 hours a day, so you can pop in to pick up fresh fruit, sweet treats and savoury snacks any time a craving strikes. Complimentary wine tastings are offered daily, and the hotel’s wine cellar boasts more than 9,000 bottles, ensuring there’s something to suit every taste.
On-site, there's a small, but elegantly appointed, spa with a range of healing and beauty treatments from around the world, as well as an outdoor, heated 20-metre lap pool and an indoor fitness centre. But above all, one of the main attractions of staying here is the access you'll have to the incredible art gallery. Guests can arrange tours with the in-house art curator or book exclusive tours of other local art museums that are only open to Ellerman House guests. If you have kids, note that Ellerman House does not accept children under the age of 14 unless you book the hotel in its entirety or the Villa One.
