Ellenborough Park
About the hotel
"A romantic fifteenth-century country estate set on ninety beautiful acres, Ellenborough Park boasts enchanting accommodations, atmospheric dining and a superb spa."
Warm honeystone buildings are set near to the Manor House itself; it is in these buildings that you'll find the property's guestrooms alongside those suites which are set within the manor. With a grand total of just 61 rooms and suites, Ellenborough Park feels intimate and exclusive, an ambience which is heightened upon stepping inside your guestroom. Each of the 61 accommodations is uniquely and individually designed, and all are utterly charming. Nina Campbell-designed fabrics and wallpapers set the stage from the get-go and are complemented by classic accents like antique furnishings, vintage traveling cases placed at the foot of the beds and – in some – regal four-poster beds flanked by swathes of heavy fabric. The quintessentially countryside, rural-chic interiors are livened here and there by vibrant accents: a pear-coloured velvet couch in one room, for example, or a magnificent blue vase in another. Bathrooms are marble and mod cons like Nespresso machines come standard; our only niggle is that we wish the windows were a touch bigger. This can be worked around if you snag one of the rooms that come with a private patio or private garden – the latter of which are dog-friendly options.
Horse Box Brasserie is the first of two establishments for drinking and dining at the estate. Ellenborough Park has recently released its own gin – be sure to sample a glass while you're there. The brasserie is an easy-going affair, with excellent iterations of classic pub staples. For something a little bit more special, head to the main restaurant. There, you'll find a stunning dining room complete with a crackling fireplace to go with the venue’s approachable fine-dining experience. Cuisine there is hearty and creative, with an emphasis on seasonal, locally sourced produce. In the warmer months, dine alfresco on the South Lawn or watch an unforgettable sunset from the front of the house.
Arguably the most luxurious spa in Cheltenham, the Spa at Ellenborough Park features bespoke treatments for guests over the age of sixteen. Book yourself an indulgent experience, or take advantage of the other indoor spa facilities, which include a Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.
