Curtain Bluff Resort
About the hotel
"Flanked by the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean to the other, the all-inclusive Curtain Bluff is a chic getaway boasting two beaches, laid-back dining and an extensive wine cellar."
When choosing a room, you’ll have the choice of On the Beach or On the Bluff; the primary difference being that the latter is a touch higher up on the bluff than the former. If you’re splurging, the posh Hulford Collection ups the elegance while adding delightful perks like private plunge pools. Coffee machines are available, but have to be requested (do so in advance if you anticipate needing an in-room caffeine fix). Additionally, rooms do not have TVs; though this (if your philosophy is in-line with the resort’s) might be a positive for you
Breakfast and dinner can be had at The Tamarind Tree, which overlooks a lovely courtyard centred around – unsurprisingly – a centuries-old tamarind tree. The menu changes nightly (as does the live music you’ll have serenading you while you dine), with delicious seafood and meat options, much of it locally sourced. The buffet-style lunch served at the resort’s other restaurant, Seagrape, is casual – you’ll be welcomed in a post-swim t-shirt. The Italian/Antiguan dinners served there are a smart-casual affair, with the overall vibe being comfortably laid-back. Oenophiles will want to pay a visit to The Cellar; claiming to be the Caribbean’s most extensive, it boasts over 400 vintages.
One of the resort’s beaches is calm, the other is wilder, so all who wish to paddle, dive or snorkel will be well catered to regardless of ability level. Activity of any kind is encouraged here, from the more conventional options – fitness centre, tennis courts and pilates classes – to the delightfully unexpected: shuffleboard, bocce and pickleball, to name a few.
Inactivity is equally encouraged, whether that takes the shape of a long float on an inflatable mat atop crystalline waters, a visit to the spa or a nap in a hammock strung between two idyllic palm trees.
