The 86 guestrooms are spread over 11 floors and are Kit Kemp from head to toe: the spaces are luxuriously appointed with designer furniture, superlative wallpaper and Kemp’s signature style in every detail. High ceilings and warehouse-style windows let in plenty of natural light, and a number of higher-floor rooms offer unbroken views over the city. The overall atmosphere is posh, cosy and pleasantly residential – rooms feel like the chic New York City pieds-à-terre we all wish we had, a feeling that’s amplified in the spacious suites. The sumptuous Crosby Suites are the hotel’s largest offerings, but the Meadow Suite, in our opinion, is the most majestic of all. Situated on the hotel’s second floor, this space features a private American woodland meadow terrace, which feels almost like one’s own secret little garden in the heart of the city – apple tree and verdant lawn included.
SoHo and New York City at large are veritable paradises for foodies, but weary travellers will delight in knowing that there is a prime dining option within the hotel itself. Called The Crosby Bar, this venue stretches from Crosby Street at its front side all the way to Lafayette Street at its rear and is a colourful, eclectic space that remains open for all meals of the day, as well as for afternoon tea and weekend brunch. Large windows bring the outside in as they look out at the trees and the garden on Lafayette; when the weather is nice, dine outside on the pretty sunken terrace, perhaps while you enjoy a Rosemary Clover Club or one of the bar’s other signature botanical-forward cocktails. After a preprandial drink, the menu delights: dine on dry-aged NY steak frites, a lobster club sandwich or halibut with miso glaze.
