Set in a valley near China's most iconic landmark, the Commune By The Great Wall is a five-star hotel, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Twelve architects from all across Asia collaborated to design contemporary homes in this picturesque spot in the Shuiguan Mountains, with each home featuring a unique style and views of the Great Wall. The homes became so popular with guests, that replicas were built to expand the number of rooms available. While the hotel feels quite remote in its serene forested setting, Beijing is just a 40-minute drive away and attractions like The Great Wall Museum of China and Badaling Wildlife World are within a 25-minute drive.

The 36 houses offer a total of 176 rooms, and guests can choose between renting an entire house or sharing it with other travellers. The Forest House features soaring multi-story windows that offer captivating views of the natural surroundings and includes a spacious three-bedroom suite perfect for families. Made of bamboo-laminated lumber, the Furniture House features four bedrooms set around a central courtyard, while the Bamboo House was designed to exist in harmony with nature and offers a private tea room and six bedrooms. Every room includes a convenient mini-fridge, Libratone speakers, one king or two twin beds with Simmons Beautyrest mattresses, a Nespresso machine with a variety of coffee and plush bathrobes and slippers to relax in.

Dine on authentic Chinese cuisine while enjoying views of the Great Wall at Commune Kitchen, which offers all-day dining with popular dishes like wok-fried chicken and Peking Duck. The Poolside Café & Bar makes it easy to pick up a snack or cool off with a cocktail without venturing far from your lounge chair.

The hotel is set just a ten-minute uphill hike along a well-worn path from the Great Wall, which has not yet been restored in this area and is much less crowded than in other sections. During your stay, spend an afternoon relaxing at the outdoor pool, or visit the fitness centre to work out on modern equipment any time of day.
