While this might sound like the ultimate romantic retreat, the hotel caters well for families with babysitting services, family cooking classes, a kids’ club and a pool devoted entirely to children. The whole family can enjoy a dip in the black basalt pool or a match on the tennis courts, while the spa offers options including a hydrotherapy circuit and acupuncture sessions for adults.
Should you somehow tire of gazing sedately over the gorgeous vista with a glass of Chianti in hand, there's plenty to explore in the surrounding countryside: by bicycle, Vespa or on a hot air balloon. You could, however, really up the ante and go with a classic Ferrari.
