The thirty suites of Calabash are spacious and contemporary, with interiors of soft whites and greys. Blue accents and tasteful nature-inspired decor add to the feeling of serenity that envelopes the entire property. Bathrooms have large walk-in showers, and some suites have private plunge pools. The delicious à la carte start to each day sets the standard for dining at Calabash, all of which is dependably excellent. At lunch, have tapas at the open and airy Beach Club, and enjoy the canapes that will be delivered to your room at sunset. For dinner, head to Rhodes Restaurant. The elegant-casual, vine-covered dining room serves a mix of Caribbean and international dishes: Callaloo and Goat Cheese Ravioli is one delicious option, pineapple and cantaloupe gazpacho is another.
To fill your deliciously tranquil days, take a private yoga lesson, a snorkelling trip to an underwater sculpture park or play tennis – Calabash has two courts. The waters of Prickly Bay are usually quite calm, so rent a complimentary kayak, paddleboard or pedalo. Perhaps you know your way around Hobie cats – they have two, and host regattas. After a day of activity, unwind with a twenty-minute body stretch at the spa, and make it a point to explore the colourful buildings of St. George’s before you leave.
Children are permitted at Calabash but must be at least twelve years of age from mid-January through February. That said, the ambience of serenity and sophistication is better suited for (and will be more appreciated by) adult guests.
