Blanket Bay
About the hotel
"An unforgettable backcountry getaway surrounded by some of New Zealand’s most beautiful landscapes, Blanket Bay offers ultra-exclusive lodgings, world-class amenities and an abundance of once-in-a-lifetime experiences."

Even the act of getting to Blanket Bay is memorable. While you can get there via a quick helicopter ride from Queenstown International Airport, the region’s abundant beauty makes it perhaps more worthwhile to drive. The car ride takes forty minutes from Queenstown (or just under an hour from the airport) and is breathtaking beyond belief.
Despite the grandeur of the lodge (and the pristine wilderness surrounding it), Blanket Bay has just a scant handful of accommodations. Beginning in the Main Lodge are the property’s five Lodge Rooms and three Lodge Suites. Designed in traditional New Zealand alpine style (albeit with positively modern luxury), these spaces are welcoming and cosy (despite their generous sizes) and boast stone fireplaces, private balconies and spectacular views. Guests in search of a little more privacy should opt for one of the four chalets or for the spectacular, award-winning villa, which was completed in 2017 and hosts four king suites. For a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience, the lavish Owner’s Residence is a venue straight out of a dream.
Drinking and dining at Blanket Bay is a love letter to New Zealand, with all the country’s finest fare showcased in a locally inspired, spirited menu that is ever-evolving. The five-course dinner degustation menu, for example, changes daily. Whatever you like, expect the works, and don’t miss the opportunity to sample some of the region’s finest wines.
You’ll find a spa, pool, fitness room and all manner of other amenities on-site, but it’s the lodge’s opportunities for experiences further afield that will truly capture guests’ hearts and minds. There is truly something for everyone, from a jet boat safari deep in Mt. Aspiring National Park to helicopter excursions over Fiordland. Explore the wilderness on foot by hiking through dramatic alpine landscapes, on horseback or by fly-fishing in the region’s iconic trout fishing rivers. Winter sports enthusiasts of all ability levels will have the opportunity to take to the slopes like never before with Blanket Bay’s ‘à La Carte Heli-Skiing Menu’.
