The Andaz Delhi is located in Aerocity, about two miles from the airport, but with triple-glazed windows, you won’t have any idea it’s that close when you shut the blinds. Far from being just another banal airport hotel, this one is something to shout about with its fabulous dining options, modern, zen-like rooms, spa, pool and fitness centre. The Ambience Mall, if you must go shopping, is 15-minutes away by car. And when you need to leave, the hotel’s branded vintage-looking vehicle will ferry you over to the airport in style.

Sparsely decorated, the only colour comes in the form of a navy-blue upholstered bench at the end of the bed – somewhat bland by Indian standards, but nevertheless crisp, clean and well-appointed. Bathrooms all have walk-in showers and every room comes with international plug options and a Nespresso machine. What we love most is that every room is fitted with a built-in sofa under the room’s vast window and a coffee table alongside. Go for the runway view to maximise this feature.

Dining here is a big wow, starting with AnnaMaya, open for all meals of the day, whose decor is as colourful as the healthy, Indian choices on the menu are – too much to choose from. There’s the convivial Soul Pantry for a casual meal of flatbreads and salads, but the star of the show is the two-storied dynamic The Hong Kong Club. With a seating capacity of nearly 300 and a bar in the central section serving killer cocktails while the DJ spins his mix, go veg or non-veg and then watch the chefs as they prepare it all (if you can see them, that is). The dim sum is legendary, so book early.
