With the largest land mass of all the Greek islands, there is no shortage of things to do and see in Corfu. The capital, Corfu Town, is a unique mix of Norman-Venetian influences, with cobbled streets, vibrant bougainvillea, and crumbling stone houses overlooked by two ancient castles. Santorini is known for its whitewashed buildings and artisanal crafts scene – not to mention the delicious Assyrtiko. Be sure to visit the preserved Minoan ruins of Akrotiri, which has been unofficially titled the ‘Pompeii of the Aegean’.

One of the quieter islands, Zakynthos is famed for its rural mountain villages and hiking trails, as well as being the scene of a large shipwreck in the 1980s, which remains on Navagio Beach. Explore the island’s sandy shores or take to the water on an Ionian sailing adventure.
