Gondolen, located on Södermalm in Stockholm, offers a fantastic view of Lake Mälaren and the city's inlet. Since opening in 1935, together with Katarinahissen and KF-huset, Gondolen has been a symbol of Swedish food tradition. Inspired by an airship gondola, the restaurant hovers 33 metres above the ground and serves classic Swedish and French cuisine. King Gustav V was our first visitor, and the Royal Room still exists today with the same décor as back then.

On 15 October 1935, Slussen and the new Katarina Lift were inaugurated, significantly transforming Södermalm. The architect Le Corbusier described Slussen as "the first great work of the modern era". On the opening day, visitors admired the new Katarina Lift, which hovered over Södermalm and provided a breathtaking view of the city.

KF director Albin Johansson showed the guests of honour around the new Gondola, including King Gustav V. After a tour of the restaurant, they toasted with champagne (Veuve Clicquot), and King Gustav V proudly declared the Gondola inaugurated. The Gondola quickly became a well-visited and appreciated restaurant, where visitors from all over the world could enjoy luxury and an unparalleled view of Stockholm.

We prioritise gender equality, good working conditions and economic growth, reduced inequality, sustainable consumption and production, and the protection of marine resources and ecosystems. Our efforts include a 29% reduction in the purchase of bottled water, more female leaders, and our own farms at Ulriksdals Värdshus. We are also proud owners of the fishing boat SM4 Tarona, which allows us to offer fresh and ethically caught fish directly to our guests. Our sustainability work not only improves our environmental impact but also enriches the dining experience for our visitors.
