Where to Find the Best Pancakes in London

Where to Find the Best Pancakes in London

This year Pancake Day falls on Tuesday March 4. Traditionally known as Shrove Tuesday, it marks the final day before Lent – a period of fasting leading up to Easter. Today the tradition has evolved and many simply use this time to give up indulgences or embrace healthier habits. Whether you’re cutting out sugar, takeaways or social media, there’s no better way to kick off a month of self-restraint than with pancakes.

The Wolseley

160 Piccadilly, Mayfair, W1J 9EB

The Wolseley is renowned for its breakfasts, serving everything from mouth-watering traditional fry ups to specialities such as haggis with duck eggs. But today, we're all about pancakes. Just like The Wolseley itself, the pancakes are the epitome of classic decadence. The fluffy stacks are served with a choice of crispy bacon or fresh seasonal berries. If you’re feeling particularly sweet order their sinfully delicious hot chocolate or for something lighter, a cold-pressed juice.

Where the Pancakes Are

7 Charlotte Street, Fitzrovia, W1T 1RG

Serving pancakes all day, this institution offers classic buttermilk stacks, 3-in-1 pancakes (vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free) and Dutch babies – a nod to the classic German oven-baked pancake. Expect a creative menu packed with bold flavours. Savoury favourites include poached eggs with hollandaise and tarragon or the Bali-inspired Buddha brunch pancakes with kale-chickpea-tabbouleh, jalapeño pickles and tahini. For a sweet fix, try the miso pear caramel stack with house cream or the banana marshmallow creation with sesame-apricot crisps.

Ta' Turu

60 Crawford Street, Marylebone, W1H 4JS

If fluffy pancakes aren’t to your taste, visit Ta’Turu, where artisanal galettes and crêpes are exalted. The charming Parisian-style eatery, with its striped awnings and tasteful tiling, serves classic toppings such as ham and cheese, lemon and sugar and Nutella, but why not treat yourself to something more indulgent. Try the Ta’Sandra, a truffle symposium of brie, truffle butter, walnuts, truffle honey and fresh truffle shavings or the Ta’Soraki with pistachio cream and flakes.

The Little Blue Door

871-873 Fulham Rd, Fulham, SW6 5HP

For an immersive pancake experience head to The Little Blue Door – a unique venue blending restaurant, bar, club and living room. Their two-hour bottomless brunch includes free-flowing prosecco and Aperol, the perfect accompaniment to their signature house pancakes. Choose between crispy fried chicken with chili maple butter honey or caramelised banana with chocolate-glazed nuts.

If you’re visiting London around Pancake Day, we recommend staying at The Langham, where breakfast includes, you guessed it, delicious buttermilk pancakes with candied pecans as well as vegan crepes with an array of sides. Book your stay through ASMALLWORLD Collection.
