The UK’s Top Hiking Trails

With its patchwork of landscapes - windswept moors, ancient woodlands, hills and peaks - the UK is a haven for hikers. Whether you’re chasing the thrill of a steep scramble or seeking an accessible stroll, Britain has a route for every occasion.

West Highland Way (Scotland)

Spanning 96 miles from Milngavie on the edge of Glasgow to the rugged beauty of Fort William, this iconic trail offers a quintessential Highland experience. The journey weaves through lush woodlands before opening up to the expansive beauty of Loch Lomond and peaks of Ben Nevis.

South West Coast Path (England)

The longest and most captivating coastal trail in the UK stretches 630 miles from Somerset to Dorset. The path offers a blend of rugged red cliffs, crashing waves, intimate coves and fishing villages with thatched cottages – the perfect coastal adventure.

Snowdon Llanberis Path (Wales)

At 3,560 feet, Mount Snowdon towers over the rolling landscapes of Snowdonia National Park. Perfectly blending a high-energy hike with awe-inspiring views, this nine-mile loop begins and ends in the lakeside village of Llanberis which has a selection of snug inns with open fires.

Hadrian’s Wall Path (England)

Following the route of an ancient Roman wall, built in 122 AD to mark the northernmost boundary of the Empire, this trail offers a rare opportunity to walk through centuries of British heritage. The 84-mile path links the two coasts of England through the untamed landscape of Northumberland and Cumbria.

Causeway Coast Way (Northern Ireland)

The 33 miles between Ballycastle and the town of Portrush in Northern Ireland are a feast for the eyes. Alongside the Giant’s Causeway – basalt columns that resemble a behemothic staircase – highlights include buzzing flower meadows and Gothic castles.

Pembrokeshire Coast Path (Wales)

Stretching 186 miles along the western edge of Wales, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is a celebration of raw beauty. The journey begins (or ends) in the historic village of St. Dogmaels and winds its way south to Amroth alongside waters so clear they seem semi-tropical.
