Super Bowl 2025

Super Bowl 2025

New Orleans hosts this year’s NFL championship playoffs, and travellers can expect an electrifying Super Bowl experience. Our editors explore the history of this iconic event, its impact on the city and the vibrant sports culture that makes Super Bowl Sunday such a highly anticipated event.

Super Bowl Facts and Figures

Tonight marks the kickoff to Super Bowl weekend, and a lively lineup of entertainment in the Jazz Capital ramps up excitement for the showdown this Sunday. A staggering 123.7 million viewers tuned in last year and the final remains the most watched telecast in history. This year’s deciding match, hosted in the iconic Caesars Superdome, will see last year’s Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, face the Philadelphia Eagles for the most coveted title in NFL. The winning team will take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy, named after the former NFL coach who led the Green Bay Packers to victory in the first two Super Bowl games in 1967 and 1968.

Spectacle & Showmanship

While football takes centrestage, the Super Bowl has also become synonymous with world-class entertainment. This year’s halftime show, as iconic as the game itself, will feature a show-stopping performance by world-renowned rapper, winner of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize and 2025 three-time Grammy winner, including Song of the Year, Kendrick Lamar, who will be joined onstage by fellow Grammy winner SZA. Preceding the game, singer-songwriter Jon Batiste, a New Orleans native, will lead the National Anthem.

With such a star-studded line-up it is no surprise that, over the years, the Super Bowl has attracted swarms of celebrities. Stars such as Taylor Swift, Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyonce and Jeff Goldblum join the crowds, further enhancing the glamour of the event.

Super Bowl Sunday is also a culinary extravaganza. As the second-largest food consumption day in the US, only just behind Thanksgiving, expect all the American staples from crispy wings and wood-fired pizzas to hearty chili and barbecues – the perfect pairing for the game.
