The Côte d'Azur, France is synonymous with the Cannes Film Festival, the casinos of Monte Carlo, multi-million-dollar yachts and high-class living. Whether you wish to spend your days sipping cocktails on a private yacht, enjoying a stunning opera, or having a flutter at the tables à la Mr Bond, you’ll require inspiration on what to do and where to stay. Here are our top luxury experiences in Monaco to whet your appetite.

Charter a Yacht for the Day

Live life like the jet set and charter a luxury yacht for the day during your stay in Monaco. Whether it’s an evening cocktail cruise or day trip from Monte Carlo to Nice, or a harbour party with friends, there are several companies offering charters from Port Hercule in Monaco.

A sleek day charter for couples and groups of friends, the Azimut 55S can be delivered to the marina in Monaco and is crewed by an experienced captain.

The 18-metre motor yacht oozes modern style and elegance, with an extensive lounge, swimming platform, three cabins and a dining area. This vessel can transport you to Monaco’s secluded Mala Beach for swimming and snorkelling or along the coast to St. Tropez or Cannes for a spot of designer shopping.

Treat Family and Friends to a World-Class Opera

If travelling to Monaco during winter or spring season, why not treat family and friends to one of ASW’s Access Events? Opera performances will be held each month from January until April at the distinguished Charles Garnier designed Opéra de Monte-Carlo.

In January 2023, Haendel Alcina arrives at Opéra de Monte-Carlo – a work of enchantment, music and dance. The formidable mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli plays the title role of cruel enchantress Alcina, performing on a stage akin to a magical kingdom. With Christof Loy’s exquisite direction and the sumptuous sets and costumes of Johannes Leiacker and Ursula Renzenbrink to marvel at, this is sure to be a mesmerising experience for all who attend.

If you’re planning a trip to Monaco in February, reserve tickets to Opera Andrea Chénier. The four-act opera, written by Italian composer Umberto Giordano, first premiered in Milan’s famous Teatro alla Scala in 1896 and skillfully describes the tilting of the Old World towards uncertain times during the French Revolution.

One of the most popular offerings of Opéra de Monte-Carlo takes place in March 2023. ASMALLWORLD members can purchase tickets and join Ambassador David Holis at the star-studded gala event showcasing Verdi’s magnum opus, La Traviata. Or, if you prefer to travel in April, you can attend the Opéra Gala Il Barbiere di Siviglia with ASW instead.

Enjoy a Flutter at Casino Monte Carlo

A playground for the rich and famous, Casino de Monte Carlo opened in 1863 on the instruction of Princess Caroline, wife of Prince Florestan I, to save the House of Grimaldi from going bankrupt.

Today, the world-famous casino offers the opportunity to chance your luck on French Roulette, Baccarat, Poker, Blackjack and more.

The exquisite Belle Epoque era structure in Place du Casino has been a filming location for some of the world’s highest-grossing movies, including Casino Royale, Oceans 12 and Goldeneye, and is one of the most popular year-round attractions in Monaco.

Stay at the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo

The stunning Belle Epoque building on Carre d’Or, close to the casino was built in 1886 and thoughtfully renovated in 2004 by French designer Jacques Garcia. Although the exterior harks to a bygone era, Metropole Hotel’s interior is warm and welcoming, boasting 125 rooms and 64 suites blending traditional and contemporary styling.

The Lobby Bar is the hotel’s beating heart, enveloped in warm tones with artistic floral installations reflecting each season. It’s the perfect place in which to enjoy lunch, an evening aperitif or a romantic dinner for two.

Step outside to discover “Odyssey”, a Grecian-themed oasis designed by Karl Lagerfeld. The poolside sanctuary recreates the journey of Ulysses through a series of mesmerising panelled murals. During daylight hours, guests can relax and sunbathe on the terrace, and in the evening, enjoy a meal beside the crystalline swimming pool as it illuminates with LED lights.
