The first two seasons were set in Hawaii and Sicily, following the lives of a predominantly unique set of characters, save for some favourites that resurfaced in later episodes. This series will see the reprisal of the spa manager, Belinda Lindsey (played by Natasha Rothwell) from season one, alongside a new lineup of personalities.
‘The White Lotus’ HBO series, with its warped charm of scandalous affairs, outrageous characters and idyllic locations, returns to our screens this month for the highly anticipated third season. The latest instalment of the show will whisk us off to Thailand, where shenanigans at the seemingly cursed hotel chain will resume.

According to The White Lotus showrunner Mike White, “The first season kind of highlighted money...the second season is sex, and I think the third season, it would be a satirical and funny look at death and eastern religion and spirituality”. Filming started February 2024, following a lucrative deal between HBO and the Thailand Tourism Authority. Other destinations that were considered included Japan, but we suspect that the reported 30 per cent tax rebate in Thailand may have factored into the final decision. The ultimate chosen locations were Phuket, Bangkok and Koh Samui, as listed below.
Phuket
Thailand’s largest island, located south of the mainland, is home to stunning beaches, tropical forests and now, film locations from White Lotus season three. One shot in the show’s trailer features Nicholas Duvernay standing in a glassy pavilion on the island, surrounded by lotus flowers. Whether we witness another beachside murder scene is yet to be unveiled.

Bangkok
While the exact locations across the city are yet to be disclosed, we know that one of the popular markets in the bustling Thai capital makes an appearance. The most likely include Asiatique Riverfront Market, Chatuchak Market and Khao San Road, which we expect to see in the show.
Koh Samui
It's no surprise that the island of Koh Samui, with its turquoise waters and white-sand beaches fringed by coconut groves, is swiftly becoming a wellness hotspot. One of the main settings for the show is the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, a no-brainer seeing as the first two seasons were also shot at Four Seasons properties.
The hotel is fortunately part of ASMALLWORLD Collection, so you can retrace the steps of the White Lotus elite in no time. The property offers idyllic coastal views, renowned spa treatments and indulgent ‘Private Residences’ with personalised services.
