Each year, HKIFF screens more than 200 films from both local and international filmmakers, in major cultural venues across the city. Film premieres are screened as gala events, with special meet-and-greets and red-carpet presentations from cast and crew. Prizes are awarded to successful submissions in the competition categories, which include Young Cinema, Documentary, and Short Film. Other showcases include Global Vision, Reality Bites, and Poetry in Motion. Responding to the theme, ‘Dialogue - Conversation of Film’, this year’s programme will be centred around fostering global communication and collaboration.
The festival will also provide masterclasses from esteemed filmmakers Albert Serra and Juho Kuosmanen, who will provide an insight into the art of filmmaking. These unique opportunities will support HKIFF's commitment to providing cinematic discourse and education. Locations for events and screenings include Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall Theatre, Emperor Cinemas Times Square, and Louis Koo Cinema, Hong Kong Arts Centre.
