Due to its location in the scenic Basque region of southwest France, Biarritz restaurant menus are infused with French, Spanish and locally inspired cuisine. Whether you enjoy feasting on fresh seafood platters, rustic stews or sweet treats and fine wine, Biarritz is a city focused on cuisine for all.

Book a Table at Michelin Star L’Impertinent

With one Michelin star to its name, L’Impertinent on Rue d’Alsace, is a creative restaurant known for its sassy, rock ‘n’ roll atmosphere. The culinary helm is manned by Fabian Feldman, an innovative chef who trained at one of the world’s finest restaurants, Pierre Gagnaire in Paris.

Feldman loves to push the boundaries of cuisine, offering pioneering tasting menus which focus on seasonal ingredients and elegant wine pairings. The restaurant’s fresh produce is procured from Ciboure fish market in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, 20 minutes away, and vegetables and meats are from local suppliers’ farms.

Plates are beautifully presented akin to a work of art, never overdone, and bursting with delicious flavours. Highlights of the tasting menu include Feldman’s ‘fish of the day’ with cabbage, Meyer lemon and black sesame or try the scorsoner, Jerusalem artichoke, oyster mushrooms and white miso followed by mouth-watering desserts and petit fours.

Sample Fresh Seasonal Ingredients at Le Pim’pi

A short stroll from Place Clemenceau and the beach, Le Pim’pi is a popular eatery in Biarritz, perfect for lunch with family and friends. The charming little bistrot on Avenue de Verdun has an old-world vibe. A blackboard hangs on the wall behind the bar promoting daily specials, while the owners, Fanny and Manu, serve generous plates of food which are distinctly European in flavour.

Abundant delicious dishes are available to sample during a visit, including falafel with cumin yoghurt, fresh fish, platters of Basque country charcuterie or fried porcini mushrooms when in season. If there’s still room for dessert, the Gros chou craquelin with praline cream is a winning combination.

El Pim’pi Bistrot offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, plus, the culinary team are happy to organise specific à la carte menus for special occasions. They also cater to group and business bookings, with space for up to 30 guests on the upper floor of the restaurant.

Wine and Basque Tapas at Crampotte 30

Crampotte 30 embraces its Basque heritage, creating flavoursome tapas, accompanied by beer, wine and a beautiful harbour view. The name ‘Crampotte’ refers to a building near a fishing port where sailors would rest after spending weeks or months at sea. They would arrive here to sleep, eat and store their equipment in the rooms until it was time to set sail again.

Today, the vibrant little tapas bar in Port des Pêcheurs, nestled beneath the spires of Sainte-Eugenie Church, is an authentic eatery by the waterfront, in view of colourful boats bobbing, fisherman bringing in their daily catch and seagulls soaring up above.

Generous tapas servings are presented on plates adorned by the Basque national flag. Discover local specialities such as spicy sausage, tortilla, croquettes, Galician octopus and Basque pate, and combine sharing platters with regional wines whilst enjoying conversation with friends, old and new, as the sun sets over the Bay of Biscay.

Visit the City’s Oldest Patisserie – Miremont

Miremont is the Grand Dame of Biarritz when it comes to pastries and cakes. It’s the oldest patisserie in the city, and during its heyday was often frequented by visiting royalty.

The interior delights with pastel pink walls, dazzling chandeliers and rococo decor. Huge glass cases brim with pastries and cakes glazed in every colour of the rainbow. Multiple shelves tucked behind counters are stacked with decorative tins, jams, handmade chocolates and cake boxes waiting to be filled with Macaron de Biarritz, black cherry pie or chocolate eclairs.

Visitors with a penchant for all things sweet can sample the Beret Rouge, an Instagram worthy pastry, topped with white chocolate mousse and covered with fresh raspberry glaze and edible chocolate motifs. Alternatively, enjoy savoury quiches, salads or select dishes from the evening à la carte menu.
