A Destination for Every Month of the Year

A Destination for Every Month of the Year

As we enter the new year, we will no doubt want to start planning our next travel adventures. From Kyoto to Koh Samui, our editors have picked the 12 best places to go in 2025.

January: Jamaica

The mountainous Caribbean Island has always danced to its own tune, which is why a stay at GoldenEye, the breezy boutique property owned by Chris Blackwell of Island Records makes perfect sense.

February: Koh Samui (Thailand)

Kimpton Kitalay Samui perches on the edge of this dreamy Thai island’s Choengmon Beach, a horseshoe of golden sand with bath-calm waters.

March: San Miguel de Allende (Mexico)

This historic hill town has long had an association with the arts, so Rosewood San Miguel de Allende’s interiors – filled with fabrics and carvings by indigenous artisans – are the perfect environment in which to experience local culture.

April: Kyoto (Japan)

Cherry blossom season is in full swing in spring and Kyoto’s lovingly tended lawns are awash with groups picnicking among the blooms. Aman Kyoto has its own glorious garden.

May: Crete (Greece)

Spring brings carpets of wildflowers (but none of the crowds) to this myth-steeped Aegean Island, where Daios Cove Luxury Resort & Villas commands a prime swath of dazzling blue.

June: Capri (Italy)

A combination of pretty piazzettas shaded by lemon trees and gorgeous villa hotels, this Italian isle comes into its own in early summer. The Capri Tiberio Palace has a sorbet colour palette and outdoor pool.

July: Santorini (Greece)

Sunset is simply magnificent in Oia, a Cycladic village perched atop a soaring cliff face overlooking a dramatic caldera. Canaves Oia Suites boasts one of the best views in the business.

August: Stockholm (Sweden)

With its archipelago of 30,000 islands, waterside bars and myriad bike routes, the Swedish capital is ideal for a summer city break. Lydmar Hotel’s terrace regularly hosts live music, too.

September: Wiltshire (UK)

Honeycomb villages, ancient stone circles and National Trust gardens aplenty make this cultured English county a must for history lovers, who will no doubt be charmed by country house hotel Lucknam Park.

October: Atacama (Chile)

Explora Atacama is a remote wilderness lodge on the edge of a starkly beautiful desert, perfectly situated for looking at the glow of the Milky Way.

November: Goa (India)

In the wake of the monsoon, India’s southern state is a patchwork of golden beaches and dense green rainforests. On the cultural front, The Diwa Club by Alila holds colourful celebrations for this month’s annual Diwali.

December: Whistler (Canada)

Four Seasons Resort has the cossetting air of a chalet and views of the Whistler and Blackcomb’s snow-dusted peaks, which typically enjoy 227 centimetres of snow in December.
