Set in the heart of charming Sanur is Andaz Bali – an idyllic resort modelled after a contemporary Balinese village. An enticing blend of tradition and modernity, this distinctive escape enjoys a lush beachfront setting complete with dazzling natural surroundings and stunning views to match.

Andaz Bali’s accommodations are divided between rooms, suites and villas, with a handful of individual options within each category. All share a fabulous design scheme that combines contemporary design with Balinese craftsmanship to create bespoke and uniquely memorable spaces. Colour palettes are set in earthy tones with plenty of natural materials – think stone, wood and leather – used throughout. Lacquered stone floors underfoot lend a glossy allure to the spaces, while intriguing headboards employ intentionally clashing, traditionally patterned panels to create a unique ambience. Dark wood accents and moody lighting complete the sultry spaces, as do floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the technicolour world beyond. Outside those windows, you'll find private furnished outdoor spaces, and in some of the posher options, you'll find private pools as well.

The exciting gastronomy scene at Andaz Bali invites you to dine as the locals do – and is a vibrant way to experience the wondrous eating culture of Indonesia. Mealtimes are communal and convivial affairs, and the resort has five dining options. Fisherman's Club is the resort's beachfront restaurant where you'll find ultra-fresh catch-of-the-day seafood alongside succulent cuts of meat grilled in the traditional style – aka, on coconut husks. The ambience here is buzzy, and in the evenings the venue adopts a beach club-esque vibe. Wok Wok showcases Indonesian comfort food, including an array of Balinese favourites that are sure to make you fall in love with the regional cuisine. The sea-inspired Blue Oven features Mediterranean cuisine and dishes inspired by the French countryside – the seafood paella is particularly good. A meat-focused grill experience can be found at the elegant Fire Fox, while the aptly named Deli & Bakery is an easy-going spot for sweet confections and coffee brewed from local beans.

Another fabulous aspect of the resort is Shankha Spa, which is the biggest wellness complex in all of Sanur. Luxurious and lovely, this fabulous establishment features a fitness centre (which remains open 24 hours a day) in addition to a yoga studio, hydrotherapy pools and ten spa villas in which guests can enjoy treatments inspired by ancient Balinese techniques.
